One the main activities of the French Academic Network on African Studies (GIS) is the organization, every two years, of a Convention (REAF) that reinforces and widens connections between scholars and research institutions working on Africa, from various disciplines of social sciences and humanities, literature, philosophy, ecological sciences and economics.
These conferences are aimed at academics including Phd students.
The 9th Edition, will be for the first time held the Campus Condorcet from June 29 to July 2, 2026 and will gathered experts of these fields.
These meetings are an invitation to overcome institutionnal and disciplinary boundaries. They provide a forum to share and discuss around research topics while comparing approaches, historical periods and various geography areas across the continent. By gathering scholars from a broad range of research fields to meet and interact in person, REAF offers a wonderful space to enhance the visibility of research about Africa anddisseminate it to a wider public audience.
CALL FOR PROPOSAL
All scholars, from PhD level, are invited to submit their panel proposal on the website: reaf2024.sciencesconf.org, before 1st ofJuly, 2023.
The document should be named following the model: "reaf2024_COORDINATOR(S)NAME(S)" and must include:
- Title and summary of the workshop (in French or in English, 2500 characters max)
- Name, email and affiliation(s) of each worshop coordinator (2 max)
Calendar of the call for Panel proposals:
1/ Launch of the call: 06 May 2025
2/ Workshop submission before: 06 July 2025
3/ Workshop proposal approved by the Scientific committee: 30 September 2025
For every workshop, the coordinator will be responsible for the composition of a panel of maximum 5 speakers.

3- Call for communications : 15 October to 15 December 2025.
4- Publication of the workshops content : 08 January 2026.
5- Publication of the program : 30 January 2026.
